As the first-crop sires tick off first winners almost daily, it was the turn of Mickley Stud's Ubettabelieveit (Ire) (by Kodiac {GB}) to enjoy the limelight on Friday. Represented in Dundalk's opening five-furlong maiden by the filly Leblon Beach (GB), the Adrian Murray-trained £5,000 Goffs UK Premier Sale graduate sat off the early pace before being delivered to the front approaching the furlong pole by Colin Keane. Asserting from there, the Capital Thoroughbreds Syndicate's runner beat the No Nay Never pair of newcomers First Approach (Ire) and Award Ceremony (Ire) by 1 1/2 lengths and a short head. In taking this maiden won in recent times by Caravaggio and Blackbeard (Ire), the winner was handing a major compliment to Lady Iman (Ire) (Starman {GB}) who had her seven lengths in arrears over this course and distance last month.
“If you look at her there, she's a big enough filly. She doesn't look like a filly that has had three runs, so she has probably taken the three runs for the penny to drop,” Keane said. “You couldn't do anything but like her, the way she did it. She was still a little bit sluggish into stride for a filly that has had two runs but, when she out and raced, got to the line well and had a look.”
Dora's Sister, who is kin to the dam of the listed scorer Sparks Fly (GB) (Muhaarar {GB}) and the G2 Queen Mary Stakes third Caroline Dale (GB) (Lethal Force {Ire}), has a yearling full-brother to the winner to follow.
